How Interior Designers Charge in India
Pricing your services effectively is the hardest part of running an interior design business. In India, there are three main fee structures used by professionals:
1. The Per Sqft Rate Method (Most Common)
Usually calculated on the carpet area. The standard rate varies wildly from ₹35 to ₹300 per sqft depending on the designer's experience, the city, and the depth of the 3D drawings provided.
2. The Percentage Method
The designer charges a percentage of the total project execution value (typically 8% to 15%). This aligns the designer's compensation with the effort required to manage higher-end specifications and larger budgets.
3. Fixed Fee / Lumpsum
Best for pure consultation without supervision, or when the scope is very strictly defined upfront. Always pair this with a limit on design revisions.
