The Secret to Luxury Curtains: Fullness Ratio
The difference between cheap-looking curtains and luxurious hotel-style drapes is the "Fullness Ratio." This refers to how much fabric is used relative to the width of the window to create pleats and folds.
- 1.5x Fullness: Minimum acceptable fullness. Very flat, budget-friendly.
- 2.0x Fullness: Standard fullness. Provides good body and moderate pleating.
- 2.5x to 3.0x Fullness: Luxury fullness. Creates deep, rich, voluminous folds typical of high-end interior styling.
Always add extra fabric for "Hems" (the folds at the top and bottom of the curtain) and consider a blackout lining factor (usually adds 10-15% more material) for bedroom setups.
